Some exciting changes have taken place to the VW ID.4 for 2023. Firstly, the ID.4s for US sales are now built in Chattanooga, Tennessee! So as of this writing (1/20/2023), 2023 ID.4's made in Tennessee (with some restrictions), will qualify for the EV tax credit.* Volkswagen has introduced a new base model  - the ID.4 Standard - with a 209 mile range and a starting MSRP of $38,995. All ID.4 models now come with standard Plug&Charge capability, for extra easy Electrify America station charging. On the design side, we have new wheel designs, upgraded interior materials and new colors. Your 2023 ID.4 is offered in Arctic Blue Metallic (w/black roof option), Aurora Red Metallic (w/black roof option), Deep Black Pearl, Opal White Pearl (w/black roof option), Pure Gray (w/black roof option), Pure White, Silver Mist Metallic, and Tourmaline Metaclic (w/black roof option).

How much does the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 cost?

Starting MSRP for the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 Standard (estimated range 209 miles) is $38,995. The Mid-range ID.4 Pro S RWD (estimated range 275 miles) has a starting MSRP of $48,995, while the most feature-rich, top-of-the-line ID.4 AWD PRo S Plus' (estimated range 255 miles), starting MSRP is $55,245. The 2023 EPA estimated total range is 275 miles on the rear-wheel-drive ID.4 Pro S.  AWD is 255 miles. Actual mileage and range will vary and depend on several factors including driving and charging habits, accessory use, temperature and topography, battery age, load, and vehicle condition.

What kind of warranty do you get on the ID.4's battery?

The 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 has an eight-year/100,000 miles (whichever occurs first) warranty specific to the High Voltage Battery. That is separate from the general New Vehicle Limited Warranty, which is for four years or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Other warranty benefits are covered under "Carefree Coverage" which includes two years/20,000 miles of Scheduled Carefree Maintenance, and three years/36,000 miles of Roadside Assistance.

Does the ID.4 come with any free charging?

Yes. The 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 comes with 3 years of included 30-minute charging sessions from the date of vehicle purchase at Electrify America DC Fast Charging Stations at no additional cost.

How much does a home charging station cost?

You can purchase a Level 2 Home Charger unit for $649 plus tax (as of 01/2023) from a VW-approved vendor. Installation is extra and is performed through a local installer. Costs vary greatly as home setups differ, local companies' fees differ, and there are also different types of installations. Cars.com ran a small-sample study in March of 2022, following six different home-charger installations and prices varied widely from $900 to $6,000. The $900 installation was for a side-of-the-house station with no problems encountered or electrical service upgrades needed. The high end was caused by a detached garage quite a distance from the house and which also needed upgraded electrical service. In-between was an attached garage install of a 200-amp charger that cost $1,450.
