The VW Arteon will elevate your mood immediately on approach. From its smiling grille with attractive full-width light bar styling, to its sporty fastback that leaves behind a good impression. Finally, upon entering the cabin, enjoy a relaxing, comfortable and spacious interior. Ian Wright of Carbuzz noted in his Volkswagen Arteon review last year, "… with Volkswagen's attention to detail and ergonomic design shining through alongside excellent build quality, the question isn't if you should buy this particular budget-friendly four-door coupe, but rather, why wouldn't you?"
The Arteon four-door coupe will surprise you with its generous head- and legroom, even for back seat passengers. Stretch your legs with 41.2 inches up front and 40.2 inches in the rear, plus class-leading rear headroom at 37 inches. And all this personal space doesn't take away at all from your ability to pack up for a road trip or extended shopping foray. The Arteon's expansive trunk alone offers up 27.2 cubic feet of cargo space. If you're not fully loaded with passengers, you can expand that to 56.2 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.
Arteon is powered by the Golf R engine and paired to a 7-speed sporty DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder is rated at 300 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, with the full amount of torque available as low as 2,000 rpm, delivering 0-60 mph times as low as 4.6 seconds. Fuel efficiency is impressive for all this power, offering an EPA estimated (city/highway/combined) 24/34/28 mpg FWD and 22/30/25 AWD. Various independent test drivers have praised the Arteon's handling on both straight pavement and winding roads and declared the all-wheel drive Arteon to be "fun in the curves" (Car and Driver), and "on city, highway, and mountain roads … terrific to drive." (J.D. Power).
Volkswagen's powerful suite of safety tech, called IQ.DRIVE is fully loaded in the Volkswagen Arteon. The system includes features that assist the driver to stay centered in the lane, avoid potential forward collisions, maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front with adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and alerts, and rear cross traffic alerts while backing. Standard infotainment technology includes a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster with customizable views, an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and wireless charging. Three-zone climate control, heated seats and heated steering wheel are standard, while massaging driver's seat, Nappa leather and ventilated seats are available, along with mood enhancing ambient lighting in door panels, and a premium Harman Kardon sound system.
A new 2023 VW Arteon starting MSRP is $43,010. Moving up from the base to the mid-range SEL R-Line starts at $47,180 MSRP, while the top-level SEL Premium R-Line tops the line and begins at $50,175 MSRP.
The Volkswagen Arteon is a well-built vehicle. It was just introduced in 2019, however, according to CAREdge's probability analysis, over a ten-year period, an Arteon's maintenance and repair costs should be below industry averages with only about a 17% chance that it will require a major repair in the first ten years.
Not technically a sedan, the Volkswagen Arteon is a 5-passenger, 4-door Coupe with a liftback. Although it has fastback styling, it still has plenty of rear headroom for taller back-seat passengers at 40.2 inches.
Under the 2023 VW Arteon liftback, you'll have 27.2 cubic feet of cargo storage or up to 56.2 cubic feet of cargo capacity with the back seats folded down.
The 2023 Volkswagen Arteon grows its list of standard inclusions. Newly added standard equipment on the base model include: LED headlights, dynamic cornering lights, LED daytime running lights, front grille integrated lightbar; hands-free remote powered easy open and close hatch; heated steering wheel, lane departure warning plus lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and dynamic road sign display.
